Through my very unscientific methods, I would estimate that roughly 99% of persons affiliated with or in support of the Houston Rockets would strongly approve of the acquisition of Chris Bosh.
The illogicalities of the other 1% are not deserving of mention in this space, but it’s a slow news day…
I find it amusing when fans object to the potential acquisition of a player through citing the latter’s lack of prior success. It’s silly, really. Pau Gasol never won anything with the Grizzlies and is now considered the most vital cog on the NBA’s best team. Should the Kings have balked at the prospect of adding Chris Webber due to his failures in Washington? The list of players whos fortunes turned with a change of scenery is endless.
It’s too simplistic to appraise a player’s worth through the gauge of team success. Only trans-generational talents (ie: Hakeem, Lebron) can stand on their own. That doesn’t somehow mean everyone else is without merit and undesirable.
Chris Bosh cannot carry a team to a championship. That’s fine – in light of the supporting cast Daryl Morey has assembled, he wouldn’t be asked to. With the other weapons in this lineup, Bosh would be the final piece that could propel the team to the top.
It’s absurd to knock Chris Bosh for his past failures. The Houston Rockets aren’t chasing him to carry the load.
