@  thejohnnygold : (29 September 2015 - 05:16 AM) FYI, it was media day today. Interviews are up at NBA.com
@  slick shoes : (23 September 2015 - 06:37 PM) kind of late in the day but NBATV is broadcasting classis Rockets games all day today.
@  SadLakerFan : (16 September 2015 - 04:37 AM) Man, as a Laker fan, I'm learning how little you care about the off season when your team sucks. Anyway, a quick moment to remember Moses. Still remember watching the 81 team as a kid - losing record, NBA Finals. I would have cried w/joy if they could have beaten the Celtics.
@  jorgeaam : (15 September 2015 - 08:30 PM) http://bleacherrepor...ist-after-crash
@  jorgeaam : (15 September 2015 - 08:30 PM) So to celebrate his new contract, Montrezl Harrell saved someone's life on monday
@  thejohnnygold : (14 September 2015 - 04:36 PM) A good article from Blinebury talking about when Hakeem and Moses used to play in the park. LINK
@  rockets best... : (14 September 2015 - 02:29 AM) I agree totally. I got to watch his Rocket days and the man was a hell of a player. BIG MO R.I.P.
@  Mario Peña : (13 September 2015 - 05:24 PM) Sad to see Moses pass. I don't remember watching him as a Rocket but I do remember his Philly and Hawks teams. He was the perfect man to mentor Dream. It's a very sad day for his family and friends and there are many.
@  majik19 : (12 September 2015 - 09:01 PM) i just saw a post wishing Yao Ming a happy 35th birthday... am I the only one whose mind is blown that he's only 35?
@  cointurtlemoose : (08 September 2015 - 01:17 AM) aaaah, thanks jorge
@  jorgeaam : (08 September 2015 - 12:21 AM) Love it how Hinkie and Morey always target the same players, but hoping he isn't another Covington
@  thejohnnygold : (08 September 2015 - 12:03 AM) Christian Wood has signed with Philly
@  jorgeaam : (07 September 2015 - 10:32 PM) If I'm not wrong, he hasn't been waived yet, they have until october 4th to do that
@  cointurtlemoose : (07 September 2015 - 05:39 PM) Anyone else surprised that Kostas hasn't gotten picked up by anyone yet? I wanna see that guy play somewhere
@  redfaithful : (05 September 2015 - 10:48 PM) Llull line from today loss to Serbia: 30MIN 1-10PG, 0-5 3PG, 4-4FT 6AST, 1TO, 4REB, +/- -11
@  Losthief : (03 September 2015 - 02:27 AM) this dude's gun fired and all he got a misdemeanor at bush lol: http://abc13.com/new...ush-iah/815795/
@  Losthief : (03 September 2015 - 02:26 AM) theres more articles all over, but the jist is houston (and texas) doesn't really arrest for it, they just recommend you leave it in your car when they catch it. So seems dwight got lucky he was in texas and not cali or the NE.
@  Losthief : (03 September 2015 - 02:22 AM) honestly we should just be glad they caught it...

This is how the current roster shapes up.
    PG- Beverly/ Canaan / Johnson / FA?
SG- Hardin / Daniels (resign?) / Ariza / Johnson
SF- Parsons / Ariza / Covington / Casspi
    PF- Jones / Parsons / D-Mo / Casspi /
    C- Howard / D-Mo

That still is a strong team that can push for NBA championship. It will take some tinkering with in order to fill in the rest of the bench/ upgrade depth.

While disappointed in the 180 degree turn made by Bosh, I'm still excited for the upcoming year.

Should probably have the same or slightly better record than last year, the west is tough but no one got much better. A good backup pg or big would be a great get at this point.

I agree.  One thing that has gotten glossed over during the disappointment over the Bosh debacle (is there any other way to describe it?) is that this team is potentially much better than last year's team, and that team came thisclose to making it to the second round.   Ariza's 3-put shooting is legit - if you check his stats, all of his shooting stats have improved consistently over a long period of time.  Harden, Parsons, Beverly and Jones are all young.  Jones in particular is intriguing - where is his ceiling?  I would not be that concerned about Asik's departure - the team played without him for most of the season, and while he was needed against Portland, it is not possible to hope for overall improvement on the defensive end?  That's where the coaching staff comes in - I think that McHale and his staff are under the microscope next year.

I get it but it's just hard for me to get depressed. I have a best friend who is a Pelicans fan and a few other good friends who I speak to regularly and their teams haven't even been to the playoffs in recent years so every time I speak with them if I ever get to feeling down about the Rockets I get a quick reality check. I understand your disappointment but I just can get dragged down by all that. Just having a second year of Howard and Harden together is pretty exciting to me. I look forward to improvement from them after adjusting that first season.

Also, I will be looking for improvement from Jones, Motiejunas, Canaan, Daniels, Covington and other young guys.

@FSS: I'm with you here. The Rockets are in a good shape, and although Parsons is a good young player avoiding that terrible contract gives room for trades going forward. We saw last year that the 2013-14 roster was not good enough to go deep into the playoffs, there was no reason to bring the whole team back together. We lost some good talent but other than Asik's defense there's no ability lost that's can't be found on the market. And there certainly is more continuity going into camp than previous seasons. Go Rockets!

Can Howard improve though? I don't think so. He's the best center in the game but while I think he will improve skill wise his athleticism will decline at a steady rate so I think this his peak and he will stay there 2-3 years.

totally agree. I think it's time for us to see what all this grooming on our young players can net us. they need to play. Canaan, Daniels, Covington, T-jones and D-Mo should all have their chance at making the rotation this year

                So, we're looking at this:

                Beverley

                Harden

                Ariza

                Jones

                Howard

                ----------------------

                Motiejunas

                Dorsey

                Adrien

                Capela

                Gee

                Papanikolouaoaueuoaoeuaeuo

                Daniels

                Canaan

                Hopson?

                Johnson?

There is a distinct lack of PG here...but a lot of young prospects.....hmmmmmmm...

Per Zach Lowe the Rockets are the losers of the off season so far. He also brings up something Ive thought for a long time about Harden and Howard:

"there is an undercurrent around the league that Harden and Howard don’t represent the most appealing duo of teammates for any star who has lived within ultraserious professionalism"

Good for you.  You cherry-picked that quote out of an article that was way less critical than you wish it was.  He also described the Lin trade as "catastrophic"....which, for the first time I can recall, made me question his judgement.  Was it a giveaway?  Of course.  Would 30 other GM's trade Lin under the presumption they were going to immediately fill that space with Bosh?  Of course.  Even after considering the Bosh-180, that trade can most critically be described as, "meh, whatever".

I'm just not ready to eat crow on Lin and Parsons.  We've all spent the last 2/3 years watching them.  They're good players, but you'd think we just gave away Steve Nash (shout out to Mark Cuban who actually did that) and Larry Bird the way we're getting trashed for it.  I guess we'll see....

You see what you want to see....I guess we'll just have to rely on people reading the article and not being led by the nose by a Portland-er.

In time, the Utah Jazz and their $63M dollar man will be the true losers.  Until then, pile on with everyone else.  That's fine.

Losers of the off season....quite the moniker.  Losers, because we had legitimate reason to believe LeBron, Melo, or Bosh could be joining our roster (oddly, no other team fits that description) and came up empty.  I guess, relatively speaking, when you have so much to gain it will ultimately look like you lost the most.

Is there a fan base in the league (outside of Cleveland and San Antonio) that isn't sincerely trying to ignore the fact that they have major issues to deal with if they want to win a title?

I wouldn't trade places with any of them.  Let's look at Portland.  They have 1 year before their roster gets blown up.  What did they do this off season?  Chris Kaman.

I disagree JG on Hayward. I think he will do much better next year with an actual coach and an increase in talent with Exum/Hood coming in. The absence of Jefferson alone will help them.
