During a game at Scotiabank Arena on Friday night, Jalen Suggs of the Orlando Magic experienced a sudden back injury without any contact during the play against the Toronto Raptors.

As the first half was nearing its conclusion, Suggs attempted an interception of a pass made by Raptors’ guard Immanuel Quickley. He unexpectedly collapsed, clutching his lower back in agony. Suggs was attended to by the medical team of the Magic for a few minutes before being removed from the court in a wheelchair.

It was later confirmed by the Magic that Suggs would not rejoin the game due to back spasms.

In his 13 minutes on the court against the Raptors, Suggs managed to score six points from seven attempts, grabbed two rebounds, provided one assist, and achieved one steal.

Suggs, who was the fifth overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft by Orlando, has been performing at a career-best this season, averaging 16.8 points per game with a shooting accuracy of 41.2% from the field over 33 games.

Entering the game, the Magic stood fourth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 20 wins and 15 losses.
