It may be hard to grasp, but the era of LeBron James gracing the basketball court is drawing to a close. While it’s not happening right away, the end is inevitably approaching. This means that the basketball giant will likely spend a significant amount of his upcoming media interactions addressing questions about his future endeavors after dominating the NBA landscape.

This very subject came up during James’s appearance on the GoJo and Golic podcast, hosted by Mike Golic and his son, Mike Golic Jr. Senior Golic praised James’s analytical discussions on the Mind The Game podcast with J.J. Redick, who is currently his coach. He inquired whether James would consider a career in sports broadcasting, following in the footsteps of other sports legends like Tom Brady.

LeBron entertained the idea, while admiring Brady’s initial success at Fox Sports.

“I absolutely adore the game,” James commented. “I’m passionate about basketball and football alike. I analyze them not just as a fan, but from a tactical perspective. Growing up in northeast Ohio, sports was a big part of my upbringing. Seeing Tom Brady excel has been inspiring. Who knows, maybe I’ll make a few guest appearances or commentate a couple of games after my retirement. It’s always rewarding to contribute back to the sport.”

Many basketball enthusiasts would be thrilled to see James transition into broadcasting once he retires from playing. Recognized as one of the most astute minds in basketball, he has already demonstrated his ability to simplify complex play analyses for general audiences.

However, such a role would require a considerable commitment, potentially more so than what Brady has undertaken. Brady is set to commentate on 20 games this season, whereas James might be expected to cover close to 40 games due to the NBA’s national television schedule, not to mention the postseason games. This represents a significant time commitment, which may not appeal to someone who has been tied to the NBA’s demanding eight-month schedule for most of his life.

James would likely excel as a broadcaster, even if he only makes a few guest appearances. Hopefully, he will find his way to the commentary booth post-retirement.
