According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Miami Heat have decided to suspend Butler indefinitely, marking his third suspension of the current season.

Charania also revealed that the suspension followed an incident where Butler left a practice session upon learning that he would no longer be in the starting lineup, but would instead come off the bench.

Butler’s first suspension by Miami was for seven games on January 3, following public expressions of discontent with the team and rumors that he was seeking a trade. His second suspension occurred just last week, when he missed a scheduled team flight, leading to a two-game suspension.
For now, Butler’s return to the court remains uncertain, as the Heat likely explores options to transfer him to another team.
A seasoned player and six-time All-Star, Butler has contributed an average of 17.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.8 assists over 25 games this season.
