@  thejohnnygold : (29 September 2015 - 05:16 AM) FYI, it was media day today. Interviews are up at NBA.com
@  slick shoes : (23 September 2015 - 06:37 PM) kind of late in the day but NBATV is broadcasting classis Rockets games all day today.
@  SadLakerFan : (16 September 2015 - 04:37 AM) Man, as a Laker fan, I'm learning how little you care about the off season when your team sucks. Anyway, a quick moment to remember Moses. Still remember watching the 81 team as a kid - losing record, NBA Finals. I would have cried w/joy if they could have beaten the Celtics.
@  jorgeaam : (15 September 2015 - 08:30 PM) http://bleacherrepor...ist-after-crash
@  jorgeaam : (15 September 2015 - 08:30 PM) So to celebrate his new contract, Montrezl Harrell saved someone's life on monday
@  thejohnnygold : (14 September 2015 - 04:36 PM) A good article from Blinebury talking about when Hakeem and Moses used to play in the park. LINK
@  rockets best... : (14 September 2015 - 02:29 AM) I agree totally. I got to watch his Rocket days and the man was a hell of a player. BIG MO R.I.P.
@  Mario Peña : (13 September 2015 - 05:24 PM) Sad to see Moses pass. I don't remember watching him as a Rocket but I do remember his Philly and Hawks teams. He was the perfect man to mentor Dream. It's a very sad day for his family and friends and there are many.
@  majik19 : (12 September 2015 - 09:01 PM) i just saw a post wishing Yao Ming a happy 35th birthday... am I the only one whose mind is blown that he's only 35?
@  cointurtlemoose : (08 September 2015 - 01:17 AM) aaaah, thanks jorge
@  jorgeaam : (08 September 2015 - 12:21 AM) Love it how Hinkie and Morey always target the same players, but hoping he isn't another Covington
@  thejohnnygold : (08 September 2015 - 12:03 AM) Christian Wood has signed with Philly
@  jorgeaam : (07 September 2015 - 10:32 PM) If I'm not wrong, he hasn't been waived yet, they have until october 4th to do that
@  cointurtlemoose : (07 September 2015 - 05:39 PM) Anyone else surprised that Kostas hasn't gotten picked up by anyone yet? I wanna see that guy play somewhere
@  redfaithful : (05 September 2015 - 10:48 PM) Llull line from today loss to Serbia: 30MIN 1-10PG, 0-5 3PG, 4-4FT 6AST, 1TO, 4REB, +/- -11

IF we win say 46 or 47 games. He will have gotten the youngest team in NBA history into the playoffs with almost an entirely new team from a season ago, only one all-star player (who is only 23 yrs old), really no legitimate second scorer (Parsons is good, but he's more of a third scoring option on a playoff team), and a midseason trade which made us worse in terms of talent for this year (I like T-rob for the future but let's face it, Patterson and Morris are better players at this stage in their respective careers). McHale has had to patch together lineups and rotations on the fly, yet we continue to win. Of course, this would require us to go on a good run for the rest of our games, which I believe we will based on our schedule, but if we do win 46 or 47 games McHale is a worthy coach of the year candidate.

Alot of McHale haters are not going to like this thread, but I think the haters are overlooking the fact he hasn't had a full off-season to work with all the guys he currently has on the roster yet. Lets see how the Rockets look next season first before we start getting too critical, and for now just be glad we're making the playoffs despite our youth and inexperience.

While I disagree with your overall premise that McHale is a particularly good coach, and I think the metric of judging him via team wins is flawed, esp. in comparison to underinflated predictions by analysts prior to them realizing just how amazing Harden, Parsons and Asik would be (again, I think our success if due to the players -- by far), I would agree that CoY awards may very well be judged heavily on your record...so I guess it would not be that crazy if he were put up for suggestion. Shoot, Mike Brown would prob win it every yr if he and Lebron stayed at Cleveland and had even the semblance of a decent cast haha (and it hardly needed to be Mike Brown!).

you have got to be kidding. while I will agree he may garner some support, anyone who has been watching the rockets this year knows we are winning not because of mchale, but inspite of mchale. he hasn't done anything that I would call coaching genius. we simply have a talented team. remember don chaney won coach of the year and then got fired the next season. i'm expecting the same for mchale if he wins it :P

we are not haters. we simply will not accept excuses and subpar results. I would really like to see mchale have suscess because his suscess is our suscess, but he doesn't know enough about what he is doing to guide this team to where it needs to go.

I remember watching Spoelstra and Scott Brooks alot when they first started coaching, and I saw tons of things I would have done differently. But it's the general consensus today that they are both good coaches, so either they improved or I was being overly critical of their coaching style - maybe both. Just saying.

      .

Excuses for subpar results??? We are well ahead of the record that anyone could have imagined going into the season! Do explain to me how exactly that is "subpar results"! Therefore you and the rest of those on this board who bash McHale can very well be labeled "haters" because that's what you are. To say we are winning in spite of McHale and not because of McHale is a cop out and the ultimate "hater" comment. McHale has been a good coach for us this year, period. As much as all you haters want to argue otherwise, our record speaks for itself and Proves that McHale is doing a good job. None of you haters have proof, just opinion. Even if we won 60 games and made the finals y'all would claim that we didn't win it all Because of McHale and won 60 games in Spite of him. Lol.

I can't help but feel that coaches somehow gain the consensus of being good whenever they have an imba team :P Soon we'll all be singing the praises of Vinny Del Negro! I kid.

I imagine CoY award is similar to Exec of the Year in that there are nba perceptions that influence it. Imagine if the LAL were doing better and a top 4 seed in the west. If they were just gelling or Dwight healed faster or whatever. Kupchak would be a lock for GM of the yr. Do I think he is an amazing GM? lol he's good, but come on, he got Nash and Dwight and Jamison, etc. because he's the GM of THE LAKERS. Yet if LAL were doing better, he'd prob win that award. Such is life.

Jason, you do realize the irony in this right? Because you're the exact polar opposite with probably just as much proof. You're like a McHale version of a LOF...MOF haha.

i just finished giving you a little credit for keeping your comments above board and then you do this. what....you think everyone who doesn't agree with you is a hater? very shortsighted on your part. you claim to have an open mind, but really your view is so narrow that you are unable to consider any possibilities but your own and those that agree with you. that's not the purpose of the discussions in this forum. it's the free exchange of idea and opinions. just because I don't see the world according to jason doesn't make me or anyone else a hater. check yourself b4 you wreck yourself

Is this thread meant as a joke?

Although I believe we have somewhat overperformed based on what we all thought we would be this season, it is hardly Mchale who should get the credit.  Morey deserves an incredible amount of credit for putting this team together, and should get quite a few votes for Executive of the Year, but Mchale? Absolutely not.  Just because we are "well ahead of the record that anyone could have imagined going into the season," doesn't mean McHale deserves the award, there are many more factors that go into it, such as whether or not another coach could have done a better job(and that answer is YES).

If you can work that in seamlessly into a future post, maybe a shortened version and with RBF's swagger haha, I will give you much credit lol.

Oh, I also just realized, since this is the interwebs, I should clarify one thing. Pretty much none of my posts are ever in a sarcastic tone. While I am a rather sarcastic person irl, sarcasm does not carry well online so I just refrain from using it as much as I can lol. Assume my comments are generally in a very earnest tone :)
