The only way I see them trading horford this year is if the team gets sold soon and the new owner wants to make changes otherwise the hawks are just too good to trade him because even when he was out last year they didn't bottom out so might as well stick with him and see if they can make some noise in the playoffs its not like he's a bad contract or they could do anything relevant with more cap space. We have pieces to trade but nothing that blows you away so moreys got his work cut out for him.

I don't see Morey making a high smash this season. He isn't going to wanna take on any bad contracts that go past the season. Only three teams are above the tax threshold at this time, and they all have owners printing money so they aren't needing to dump salary. I do think that teams like Boston might wanna save some cash at the end of the season, might be willing to dumb a decent salary paying guy into the trade exemption the Rockets have acquired. Getting a Brandon Bass or someone of his ilk would help the team marginally and would be had for a top 55 protected second round pick.
I can't argue with any of that. Do you think Bass could legitimately bring anything to the table in regards to slowing down Griffin, Aldridge, Z-Bo, etc. in the playoffs? To me, that is the biggest concern. We need somebody--anybody--who can force them to shoot contested jumpers and stay out of foul trouble. Maybe I am asking too much....

What Bass does have is a consistent outside shot - not the three point range that the Rockets love, but good out to about 18 feet. The next best thing if we don't have great defence from the PF spot is the ability to spread the floor, and Bass has a much more well-respected shot than Jones in that area. As a veteran you might expect him to have a slightly better understanding of the nuances of team defence than Jones too, although he lacks the raw athleticism. The one thing you can guarantee is that he won't get in foul trouble as easily as D-Mo does!

I don't think we have enough to make an upgrade at PG or PF and have any depth left. We should stick with the starters for now and focus on strengthening the bench. I'm liking the time Canaan is getting in and how he has looked so far. Not sure how Terry will be playing around playoffs but we could use another option at the wing who can come in and get their own shot when Harden is sitting, but play a backseat role next to the starters and shoot and defend, Shumpert and Gerald Green come to mind. A veteran backup bigman would help this team. If the Rockets plan on using Papanikolaou as a stretch-4 more, then I think we could get Zaza Pachulia from the Bucks. Not a bad contract considering he is one of the few backup C who is a veteran player without injury concerns. But I would also be happy with Jason Thompson, Bass or someone who could also fill in at PF.

I don't know what Brandon Bass brings to the table in terms of rim protection, if anything at all, but I remember noting that he was one of the most effective defenders I had seen against Lebron James a few years back. If it didn't take anything to bring him in, I would definitely be for a move like that.

Do you think a pick is enough to pry Jordan Hill out of LAL?

Jordan Hill doesn't fit inside the trade exception. He is a $9M cap hit. Would have to trade Terry or Kostas in order to match money.Do you think a pick is enough to pry Jordan Hill out of LAL?

I had looked at him as well. Thought he would be a decent backup for D12. Problem is all the teams that might want to save money don't have anyone who fit into the Rockets.ah your 100 percent right, i must of looked at the wrong number on his salary, great call.

I think the Rockets can win with Beverley - what the Rockets need are someone who can hit the open 3 and make the entry pass to Howard. Fortunately, these are both things that can be improved, even during the course of a single season. The defensive intensity is crowd pleasing, but at times, you actually want him to dial it down a little to avoid injury - he should concentrate on pick and roll D and team defense. He doesn't need to be that manic guy off the bench; at this point he's earned his spot in the league. I can imagine him being like Derek Fisher when he started on all those Laker playoff/championship teams.
I noticed Aaron Brooks put up big numbers the other day. Man, how did his star fall so far so fast?

Jordan Hill developing into a quality NBA player is definitely not something I was expecting.

Aside from Okafor (who will have no less than 12 serious suitors when he comes back), Jason Collins, Kenyon Martin, and Jermaine O'Neal are all sitting out there. I think any one of them could be useful come playoff time. O'Neal was good for the Warriors in stretches and isn't inept on offense. Collins is a smart, tough defender with legit 7' height--would be good against Aldridge.
We're also sitting on Earl Clark in the D-League....maybe Morey has plans there?

The other guy had been ballin' too, but McHale has decided to go with the geriatric team since Mexico City. The fact that Garcia has been playing over Canaan is criminal and a instant fireable offense. Where is The Combover when you need him?Coming from a Lin fan as you all know, Pat Bev is ballin, big up to Bev outplaying Lin tonight, he's really upped his game. #respect

How about the other Kosta in the league? Kosta Koufos is on a expiring deal worth $3 mil, not sure if Memphis would easily let go of him, but he sure is a great value option and would be a willing backup
