@  majik19 : (13 October 2015 - 09:09 PM) Apparently we claimed Arsalan Kazemi off waivers from the Hawks today... yet another undersized (6'7") power forward for Morey's cupboard.
@  Mario Peña : (10 October 2015 - 01:12 PM) If your part if the Red94 Fantasy Basketball League check the thread to vote for the date and time for the draft event. Thanks y'all!
@  jorgeaam : (07 October 2015 - 08:47 PM) Guys we need 1 more owner for the Red94 fantasy league, if interested please comment on the post in the fantasy basketball thread
@  slick shoes : (07 October 2015 - 06:50 PM) Kobe ranked one spot higher than Ariza? Is this based on legacy or...??
@  slick shoes : (07 October 2015 - 04:13 PM) It was hard to keep up with both the Astros and Rockets at the same time. Should be interesting on Thursday with the Texans and Astros on simultaneously.
@  Mario Peña : (07 October 2015 - 04:09 PM) It was fun to have the Rockets on last night! Right now I'm watching the Celtics versus Milan and Alessandro Gentile is impressive.
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 07:47 PM) Well, thinking twice about it, I'd rather have him score less and have the team as a whole do better. Lawson should take a lot of his load off
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 07:47 PM) Loving that, hope he hits 30 PPG this year
@  thejohnnygold : (06 October 2015 - 06:15 PM) Someone is feeling confident :) : LINK
@  jorgeaam : (06 October 2015 - 05:54 PM) 10 Teams done, will need 2 more
@  Mario Peña : (06 October 2015 - 02:35 PM) Alright guys, if anyone is interested in joining the Red94 fantasy basketball league we could use one more player to get us to 10 teams (or three to get us to 12 teams). Just check the thread in the Fantasy Basketball forum. Thanks!
@  thejohnnygold : (05 October 2015 - 06:23 PM) I use leaguepass here in Austin with no problems...
@  skip 2 my lou : (05 October 2015 - 03:14 PM) Hey fellas, I'm a rocket fan but I live in the heart of Dallas. Does anybody know if I buy NBA Leaguepass if it's too close to be subject to blackouts?
@  Losthief : (02 October 2015 - 02:24 AM) tks jg
@  thejohnnygold : (29 September 2015 - 05:16 AM) FYI, it was media day today. Interviews are up at NBA.com
@  slick shoes : (23 September 2015 - 06:37 PM) kind of late in the day but NBATV is broadcasting classis Rockets games all day today.
@  SadLakerFan : (16 September 2015 - 04:37 AM) Man, as a Laker fan, I'm learning how little you care about the off season when your team sucks. Anyway, a quick moment to remember Moses. Still remember watching the 81 team as a kid - losing record, NBA Finals. I would have cried w/joy if they could have beaten the Celtics.
@  jorgeaam : (15 September 2015 - 08:30 PM) http://bleacherrepor...ist-after-crash
@  jorgeaam : (15 September 2015 - 08:30 PM) So to celebrate his new contract, Montrezl Harrell saved someone's life on monday
@  thejohnnygold : (14 September 2015 - 04:36 PM) A good article from Blinebury talking about when Hakeem and Moses used to play in the park. LINK

It's just great. It's perfect.

And LOFs wonder why we as Rockets fans don't take them serious.....come on! I love the guy, he is nothing but a hardworker and I wish him all the best, the same I wish for Asik in New Orleans (maybe not, I'm a huge Asik fan).

This stuff is talked every year during draft time: players that get drafted by the right team, that land in a perfect situation to thrive. Maybe Houston was that for Lin, for less than four months (when we traded for Harden), since then, the situation ceased to be ideal for him and he worked his butt off to do his best to fit in with new realities (playing more off the ball, being benched, etc.). As someone stated earlier, surely LOFs haven't seen Pop yelling at Parker (not only when he was young, he still does), sometimes hard love it's what it's needed. McHale isn't the right coach for Houston, but we could do worse, so we can't pin the underwhelming performances to him solely.

To all the rational LOFs that have shared some thoughts with the rest of us, wish you and your idol the best if you don't come back.

The rest, like the guy in the video.....I find this picture to be the perfect way to introduce yourselves in LaLa Land

Call me a Canaan Denier. That guy will be a bust or a NBA journeyman at best, LOL.

Back to Lin. I think he is an average PG, he will average 17 pts/7 assists (and don't forget, maybe 4 TOs) if Kobe stay injured :D

Lakers won't go anywhere coming season with their roster.

But Linsanity can be reborn. Why? I don't believe in Kobe health. I don't think he last 25 games or can't play highest level anymore.

I have absolutely no doubt Kobe fans and LOF's will have a love affair with each other in la la land.....

Good luck with all of that!

I've heard those comments from the rice man before on this forum. I'm pretty sure he was posting here. What a nightmare this guy will be on the Laker boards. I don't mind the female Lin fans. They don't know an assist from an Asik, but some of them are pretty cute.

Great OK, you win. I have no brains. Whatever, the Lin fans have triumphed and you have figured out us brainless Rocket fans. Now if you're a Lin fan why don't you head over to forum blue and gold, a Lakers blog, tell Darius hello. You Lin fans can team up with Laker fans who I am sure are much smarter than us Rocket fans, yup.

This is going to be great.

Extremism is extremism.  Your claim of innocence is questionable.  I presume you chose your words carefully.  So, when you made this "observation":

So judging from this post, I would have to say that the Lin Only Haters are far more in force polluting the air with venomous personal attacks than the Lin Only fans, who actually have been quite rational.  It seems rather ironic that Lin only haters complain about how horrible it is that people with brains do not agree with them.

Surely, there is some interesting word choice there.  Thinly veiled jabs.  How quaint.  Your observation was incendiary and deserved whatever rebuke you got.  Don't play the martyr here.

Truly, take note and try to remember--not more than 1% of our members have ever "hated" on Lin (and that is to use your word as I don't think anyone here actually hates him--quite the opposite).  Yet, sweeping generalizations of an entire groups' character, demeanor, opinions, and beliefs are being made by another group (LOF).

In response to this, it seems you would prefer we humbly acknowledge our own inferiority while graciously accepting the privilege of your own superior understanding and wisdom.  I can think of many examples in the history of humanity where this attitude was taken--all of which are viewed with a touch of shame in hindsight.  I appreciate your attempt to civilize us, but I do think we enjoy our savage ways and traditions.  You'll have to excuse our rudeness in not wanting to be like you.

Ask yourself, "Self--Why am I here?  Is it to engage in earnest discussion about a team, and game, that I love with like-minded individuals?  Or am I crusading in a foreign land under the guise of self-righteousness that masks the destruction and negativity which i am truly creating in a futile attempt to convert them to my own beliefs?"

              EDIT: words

Sorry dbd, if you actually looked into what Lakerfan was referencing it was a video of the self proclaimed Rice Man. That is what he calls himself and has some youtube you can check it. There is nothing racist there and you are actually out of line making accusations of that nature. In the future if you have a problem please message a moderator or at least look into what you are so quick to pass judgement on.

As for sexism there is none there either. If you believe a guy on a sports forum can't say he thinks the Lin lady fans or the Lakaers cheerleaders are attractive or something similar then you are in the wrong place. Once again, contact a moderator if you have a problem with a post. In the past when posts deserved to be hidden and deleted I can assure you blakecouey, myself, johnnygold and Drew in Abilene have acted quickly and will continue to do so when necessary.

I would also stand by this Forum's track record which has never embraced racist or sexist posting and in fact I promise you we are commited to eradicating those things any time they rear their ugly heads.

Absolutely disagree. Can you explain using word "rice man" was immature at worst in your own word? Belittling women? I like to hear a bit more explanation to understand your thoughts.

Sure.  FSS covered the "Rice Man" part pretty clearly.

If you feel like he "belittled" women...well, you are entitled to feel that way.  Sure, he cracked a joke that they don't know an assist from an Asik (which i found clever...apparently I'm a mysoginistic pig  :( ).  I don't think he was anywhere near debasing women in general, rather, he was saying Lin's fangirls don't know anything about basketball the same way Bieber's fangirls don't know anything about music. True or not, it was a joke.  Lighten up a little.  I don't see anything wrong with noticing and appreciating pretty people.  I seriously doubt a single one of those women he referred to mind either.

If this is not satisfactory and you still feel like he was offensive and that we are supporting him in that then I would recommend finding a more sensitive place to discuss your sports.  It gets way worse than that around here (despite our aim of a higher standard).  The internet is a dangerous place to have delicate sensibilities.

it's amazes me even in departure Lin sparks and argument. I've been trying to stay out of it. I don't feel the need to get in some proverbial final jabs. Lin's departure can not be spoiled by a few tomato's being tossed by his followers on the way out the door. with each insult they reveal who they are. I wish them well. I hope Lin finds his basketball game in LA. I doubt Lin will transform into a star, but Lin fans have a right to their dream also. what I am most excited about......is the end of the argument with his fans over who he is and his role on this team. once gone I'm hoping that our forum returns to the state JG pictured in his joke on the matter.

for all those needing to toss departing jabs remember............an insult says much more about you than it does your target. I will not bow to your level.....I'm hoping to raise you to mine :)

Absolutely no racism intended.  As others have pointed out, the guy call himself the Riceman, and even schleps T-Shirts.  http://riceman.storenvy.com/

I apologize for the inherent sexism - I acknowledge that there are many women who actually understand basketball (Ramona Shelburne, some WNBA fans).  It's just that the percentage is so small, it's hard to resist making a snide comment from time to time.  I have a friend who was New Jersey Nets dancer - despite watching every home game from courtside and being a huge fan of the team, it was amazing how little she understood the game.  Baseball's much worse - can you think of even one woman that you know that would understand the phrase "double switch"?  Shoot, there I go again . . . .

Really, no need to be so defensive. Again, just making an observation that LOH are probably even more sensitive and at least as prone to sourness and bitterness as LOF, and I think that is being generous. Certainly, if you count the ferocity and number of the opinions, LOH are quite out in force. Almost enjoying a lynching really. However, far be it for me to preach civility to anyone, but certainly everyone can learn from why they may just hate someone else who really has done nothing to them. Think back to junior high or early high school about the book To Kill a Mockingbird.
