Negotiations between the Golden State Warriors and Jonathan Kuminga, a restricted free agent, have hit a snag as they struggle to agree on contract terms. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, speaking on NBA Today, two franchises—the Sacramento Kings and the Phoenix Suns—have proposed definitive trade offers for the 22-year-old forward.

During a workout in Miami, Charania reported that Kuminga asserted his lack of urgency in finalizing a deal with the Warriors, expressing dissatisfaction with the current proposals. It appears the Warriors are also unimpressed by the offers they’ve received in potential sign-and-trade scenarios. ESPN’s Anthony Slater noted that the Warriors are aiming to secure at least a first-round draft pick in any sign-and-trade agreement for Kuminga.

Charania further emphasized that both the Kings and Suns have shown considerable interest in Kuminga, even considering him for starting roles and significant playing time—a desire clearly articulated by Kuminga. His role with the Warriors became prominent as a regular starter in the 2023-24 season, but the recent acquisition of Jimmy Butler could limit his playing time moving forward.

Last season, Kuminga played in 47 games, starting 10, and averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.
