Though it’s been seven seasons since the WNBA’s San Antonio Stars moved to Las Vegas and became the Aces, their legacy still resonates with one of San Antonio Spurs’ prominent figures.

During a recent interview, Spurs’ star center Victor Wembanyama expressed his admiration for Indiana Fever’s guard Caitlin Clark, highlighting her as a significant influence and inspiration from the WNBA.

“The only college player that really mesmerized me with their play was Caitlin Clark,” Wembanyama remarked. “Comparing both the men’s and women’s games at the collegiate level, she stands out as the most remarkable player I’ve observed.”

Clark completed an outstanding collegiate career at Iowa in April, leading the Hawkeyes to the finals of the national championship. She transitioned into a professional role seamlessly, earning the title of WNBA Rookie of the Year with the Fever.

Similarly, Wembanyama has also been recognized as his league’s Rookie of the Year, receiving unanimous acclaim following an outstanding debut season.

With the San Antonio Spurs scheduled to play against the Indiana Pacers in Indiana on January 23, there’s a chance Wembanyama and Clark might meet.
