In 2017, she was ordered to pay the State of Victoria 410,000 Australian dollars in fines. As of now, Belle Gibson reportedly has not paid these fines, claiming she lacks the means. Some of her assets, valued at half a million dollars, were seized by authorities in 2020 and 2021 to partially offset her debt.
Belle Gibson has not reappeared publicly and has been off social media for a decade. She was spotted in a video among the Oromo Ethiopian community in Melbourne. The Daily Mail also reported that Belle Gibson separated from her partner Clive Rothwell in November 2023.
