The Phoenix Suns are experiencing a notably underwhelming season. With only 16 games left, their record stands at 30-36, placing them 2.5 games away from the play-in spot. Despite this, team owner Mat Ishbia expressed his ongoing confidence in the team during an interview with ESPN.

His words from the start of a paragraph on ESPN.com were:

“I still believe in our team. I still believe in Coach Budenholzer. I believe in the players we have. And at the end of the season, if we don’t achieve what we expected, I will have gathered enough data and evidence to assess whether things worked out or not. Based on that, we’ll make our decisions.”

With the season nearing its conclusion, Ishbia acknowledged the possibility of significant changes in the offseason. He confirmed that only one player is guaranteed to stay—Devin Booker. As reported by ESPN:

“Never happen,” Ishbia interjected during the question. “It’s silly. So here’s what I’ll tell you: I have Devin Booker in his prime. To win an NBA championship, you need a superstar. You need a great player.”

Booker will not request a trade, no matter the season’s outcome. He’s committed to spending his entire career in Phoenix, a vision he shares with Ishbia and Suns’ key executives, CEO Josh Bartelstein and general manager James Jones.

Booker, who will be 29 at the start of the next season, told ESPN that he has no desire to leave, emphasizing his pride in the community and his wish to be a rare franchise player who remains with one team throughout his career.
