The ongoing saga of Jimmy Butler’s potential trade continues to unfold, with the Miami Heat at the center and the Phoenix Suns actively pursuing the star.

According to NBA expert Marc Stein, the Phoenix Suns are very eager to acquire Butler, as he reports hearing a strong desire from the team’s side. However, the Suns face significant challenges in securing a deal.

To make a trade viable, the Suns would need to offload Bradley Beal’s hefty contract. Currently in the third year of a five-year agreement valued at $251 million, Beal’s performance has significantly declined, making his contract one of the least desirable in the NBA. He also possesses a no-trade clause, complicating matters further.

The Miami Heat are not interested in taking on Beal’s contract, which means the teams involved would need to find a third party willing to absorb it to facilitate a trade.

For Butler, the prospect of teaming up with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker in Phoenix is undoubtedly appealing, yet the feasibility of such a trade currently seems unlikely. However, the situation could evolve as the trade deadline draws nearer.

This season, Butler is earning $48.8 million and has an option for $52.4 million in the 2025-26 season. He is reportedly seeking a trade to a new team and a multi-year extension, which the Heat are reluctant to offer.

While the Suns are the most persistent in their pursuit of Butler, crafting a deal that satisfies all parties involved, including the Heat, is proving to be a formidable challenge.
