Golden State Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr is still contracted for another year, so his immediate future with the team is secure. Yet, with the end of Steph Curry’s contract looming in 2026-27 and four NBA championships already achieved, speculation arises about whether Kerr might retire.

When questioned on Friday regarding his future in the NBA and its possible dependence on Curry’s career decisions, Kerr was somewhat open but avoided committing to any specific future plans.

“At this stage, I’m taking it year by year,” he stated. “I absolutely love my job. It’s tremendously enjoyable. I cherished every moment of this season. I love my job. But I am also aware of the current state of our team and organization. So, at this point, I am quite comfortable with approaching it year by year.”

In February 2024, Kerr agreed to a two-year extension with the Warriors. Although this extension does not coincide with the end of Curry’s contract, it appears very unlikely that Kerr would choose to leave while his leading player remains on the team.

From all this, it seems clear he’ll likely have the opportunity to continue with the Warriors beyond his current contract, if he so chooses. As long as Curry is part of the team, it’s a safe bet that Kerr will be too.
