After scoring 28 points in a notable comeback against the New York Knicks, Shaquille O’Neal made a case for including Steph Curry in discussions about the greatest basketball players of all time.

“As the self-proclaimed head of the Big Man Alliance, I urge all fans to start considering Steph Curry among the all-time greats,” O’Neal announced during a TNT broadcast break on Tuesday. “Having competed against Michael Jordan, teamed up with Kobe Bryant, and both played against and alongside LeBron James, I can say they are all phenomenal. However, Steph deserves to be in this elite group as well.”

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr concurred with O’Neal’s sentiments, even labeling Curry as “the best player ever in terms of skill.”

“He’s absolutely right because there’s no one else like Steph Curry,” Kerr expressed on 95.7 The Game. “He’s a game-changer, a true pioneer in basketball. His approach and playstyle are uniquely his own, and it’s hard to envision anyone replicating what he does.”

Kerr added: “The way he influences the game is unparalleled. When discussing the greatest ever, you often think of physically imposing figures like LeBron James, Michael Jordan, and Wilt Chamberlain. Steph doesn’t fit this typical image. From a pure skill perspective, he surpasses them all.”

Unlike traditional NBA greats, Curry stands at just 6’3″. He isn’t 6’9″ or 7’1″ like LeBron or Chamberlain, nor does he possess the explosive leaping ability of Jordan. Curry’s impact is predominantly from beyond the three-point line, where he is known as perhaps the best shooter in NBA history.

As Kerr points out, Curry doesn’t match the conventional physical archetype of historical NBA legends. However, this doesn’t lessen his profound influence on basketball and the NBA. From leading the Golden State Warriors’ dynasty to revolutionizing the three-point shot, Curry’s legacy in the sport will endure long after his career ends.
