Steph Curry’s Genius Method to Stop Draymond Green from Shooting Threes

Widely recognized as potentially the best three-point shooter in history, Steph Curry is also known for his exceptional manners on the court.

The Golden State Warriors, led by Curry, have made it to the playoffs once again, marking their third appearance in four years. This follows their recent victory over the Memphis Grizzlies in the initial game of the play-in tournament, where Curry nailed two crucial three-pointers in the last two minutes, securing a 121-116 win.

The matchup was closely contested throughout, highlighted by a humorous interaction between Curry and his teammate Draymond Green, where Curry gently advised Green to ease off on shooting threes.

Not typically known for his prowess from beyond the arc, Green attempted a three-pointer from the corner in the closing moments of the fourth quarter but missed. Curry, in his characteristic polite manner, suggested afterwards that Green might consider passing next time.

Postgame, Green shared with reporters, “When I took that corner three, [Steph] very kindly told me it wasn’t the right moment for me to shoot. He approached me saying, ‘Hey, let’s focus on [a specific play we run],’ and I agreed immediately. It was a gentle way of advising me not to shoot at that moment. I passed him the ball the next play, and sure enough, he scored a three.”

Kudos to Green for his humility and willingness to learn. He’ll have additional opportunities to shoot—unless Curry is open—when the Warriors face the Houston Rockets in the first game of the NBA playoffs this Sunday night.
