Curry changed his Instagram description from “Guard for the Warriors” to “Olympic Gold Medalist,” leading to rampant speculation on NBA social media about potential underlying messages. However, it appears this was much ado about nothing.
When questioned about this change by Bloomberg’s Emily Chang on Friday, Curry simply stated, “I was just proud to be an Olympian.”
This explanation is perfectly reasonable.
Further probing by Chang about his future with the Warriors prompted Curry to affirm, “That’s the plan.”
Emily Chang: “I’m not asking him why he took the Warriors off his Instagram.”
Ayesha Curry: “Wait, what?”
Steph: “I was just proud to be an Olympian.”
Emily: “You’re here forever.”
Steph: “That’s the plan.”

On Thursday, Curry renewed his commitment to the Warriors by signing a one-year contract extension worth $62.6 million, ensuring his stay with the team until the 2026-27 season. This deal will also make him the fourth player in history to surpass $500 million in career earnings.
During the Paris Olympics, Curry played a pivotal role for Team USA, leading the team with an average of 14.8 points per game. His performance peaked during the semifinals and gold medal match, where he scored 36 points in a thrilling comeback against Serbia and then 24 points in the final against France, contributing a total of 17 three-pointers in both games.
This Olympic journey marked Curry’s first, culminating in his first gold medal, an achievement he evidently felt proud to share on his Instagram.
