White, a Colorado University alum, was present to support the Colorado Buffaloes in their away game against their rivals, Colorado State. It’s unlikely he anticipated his visit turning contentious.
The past few months had been particularly successful for the 30-year-old guard. He played a pivotal role in the Celtics’ NBA championship victory in June, then on July 1, he secured a four-year contract extension with Boston worth $125.9 million, and in late August, he clinched a gold medal with Team USA. The unexpected altercation at the football game was certainly not in line with his recent achievements.
Despite the unsettling incident, the night ended well for White as the Colorado Buffaloes triumphed over Colorado State with a score of 28–9.
