As Inside The NBA and TNT gear up for a significant change, the team’s most prominent figure, Shaquille O’Neal, is set to remain.
On Friday, Front Office Sports revealed that Shaquille O’Neal has finalized a substantial new deal with TNT, ensuring his stay as Inside The NBA transitions to ESPN following Warner Bros.’ loss of NBA broadcast rights. According to Michael McCarthy and Ryan Glasspiegel, the contract is valued at $15 million per year.
The uncertainty surrounding Shaq’s contract was a major talking point as the NBA approached its All-Star break. There was mounting speculation about the future of Inside The NBA amid the network’s NBA rights debacle. However, in November, it was announced that TNT would license the beloved studio show to be aired on ESPN and ABC starting from the 2025-26 season. Despite this positive development, it was unclear whether the entire crew would continue together.
NBA enthusiasts can rest easy now. It appears that Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Shaq are set to stay on the Inside The NBA team for the foreseeable future.
