In a breathtaking moment on Friday night, Reed Sheppard made a spectacular leap out of bounds to keep the ball in play, giving the Houston Rockets a chance at maintaining control.

This effort led to an incredible, acrobatic assist as Sheppard twisted his body and looped the ball behind him to Tari Eason, who completed the play with a thunderous dunk.

It’s easily one of the most astonishing assists ever witnessed. However, just last week, Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski displayed similar skill.

During the NBA Cup game on November 15, where Golden State triumphed 123-118 over the Memphis Grizzlies, Podziemski pursued a deflected ball and cleverly flicked it behind his back to Jonathan Kuminga, who slammed it home.

Both Sheppard and Podziemski demonstrated incredible hustle by diving into the crowd to save the ball, setting up their teammates for easy scores. Podziemski’s pass was quickly heralded as a potential assist of the year, only for Sheppard to throw his hat into the ring a week later.

The Rockets and Warriors are scheduled to face off again on December 5. It will be interesting to see if Sheppard or Podziemski can outdo each other in their next encounter.

Truly, basketball is a sport filled with beauty and excitement.
