ESPN’s Shams Charania has reported that the Detroit Pistons have secured a one-year contract with forward Javonte Green.

Green is recognized for his strong defensive abilities, primarily as a substitute. It is expected that he will fulfill a similar function with the Pistons.

In the previous season, Green divided his time between the New Orleans Pelicans and the Cleveland Cavaliers, participating in a total of 39 minutes during the postseason. His performance across both teams resulted in an average of 5.1 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.

The Pistons have recently enjoyed one of their best seasons in years, reaching the playoffs for the first time since the 2018-19 season. However, their run was cut short by the New York Knicks in the first round.

Additionally, Detroit has recently acquired forward Duncan Robinson from the Miami Heat through a trade. Known for his strong performances as a substitute, Robinson’s presence suggests a potential competition with Green for the same role in the Pistons’ lineup.
