Check out this British drama among the new shows hitting Netflix this week. We’re also giving you a rundown of other major releases to catch.

Tired of endlessly scrolling through Netflix for something to watch? Here’s our guide to the must-see new additions on the streaming platform this week. We especially recommend a gripping new British series spanning four episodes. It’s a breathtaking, emotional ride and the standout series to watch on the platform this early in 2025.

Created by Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham, Adolescence explores the descent into horror for a family and an ordinary town when a 13-year-old is accused of murdering his classmate. Each of the four episodes is filmed in a single continuous shot in real-time, enhancing the sense of immersion, tension, and intensity. The series also delves into the growing rift between parents and their children, the struggles of adolescence, as well as toxic masculinity and incels.

Another critically acclaimed series, 1883, a prequel to Yellowstone (also available on Netflix) by Taylor Sheridan, follows a family venturing into the Old West, complete with its share of violence. It has been well-received by critics and audiences alike.

If you’re in the mood for something lighter, give The Electric State, an action movie by the Russo brothers (Avengers: Endgame) starring Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt, a chance. This alternate reality where humans battle robots offers impressive visuals, even though it lacks depth. However, it’s still a fun family entertainment suitable for an evening or weekend afternoon. Also making a return to Netflix is the classic romance Pride and Prejudice, or you might prefer to (re)watch Fatal or the musical saga Pitch Perfect.

It’s also worth noting that some releases from recent weeks are still trending, such as the French action movie Bastion 36, the comedy series La meneuse starring Kate Hudson (renewed for season 2), the British series based on a true story Toxic Town, the western Yellowstone, and the political thriller Zero Day starring Robert De Niro. Additionally, you can check out the historical series Le Guépard or the comedy Resident Alien. Below, explore all of Netflix’s upcoming new releases.
