During a recent appearance on Angel Reese’s podcast Unapologetically Angel, Lonzo and his brother LiAngelo discussed the latter’s basketball career. Lonzo did not mince words, expressing a candid perspective on what he believes should be LiAngelo’s next move.

While LiAngelo considered the possibility of joining another G League team as a stepping stone to the NBA, Lonzo suggested a different path. He explained that LiAngelo’s chances in the NBA were slim and that continuing in the G League might not be the best use of his time. Lonzo advised that playing overseas would be a more viable option, where LiAngelo could truly showcase his skills and potentially dominate the competition.
“The G League might not offer the same opportunities for you, considering how things have unfolded over time. It’s important to be realistic,” Lonzo explained, emphasizing his role as a supportive elder brother. “I believe your career could really take off if you played internationally. You should have been overseas, making a big impact.”
In response, LiAngelo expressed his belief that he still had a chance to prove himself in the G League and potentially secure a place in the NBA.
However, Lonzo countered, “Here’s what bothers me. You had your opportunity during the Summer League with the Hornets. What’s going to be different this time? Will you just sit on the bench in the G League, or would you rather play in a good overseas league where you could be scoring 30 points a game?”

At age 26, LiAngelo has not yet secured a spot in the NBA, and it appears increasingly unlikely that he will. His professional experience includes playing 36 games for the Greensboro Swarm during the 2021-22 G League season and an additional 14 games in the 2022-23 season. Lonzo is simply offering a realistic perspective to his brother.
Meanwhile, Lonzo himself has made a comeback to the NBA this season after missing two seasons due to injuries. In his first four games with the Chicago Bulls, he has averaged 5.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 3.5 assists across 15.5 minutes per game.
