The anticipation is building for the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season, not just for the games but for the historic moment it promises. LeBron James and his son Bronny James are set to create a landmark moment by playing together for the Los Angeles Lakers, marking the first-ever father-son duo to do so in the NBA. Although they have already appeared together during the preseason, these moments are not officially recorded in the history books.

The exact date when this will occur remains unclear. However, during his first appearance as a television analyst for ESPN, Shams Charania gave some insights into when we might expect to see LeBron and Bronny share the court. He hinted that it could happen right at the start of the regular season.

“We’re about to witness a truly historic moment in the very near future,” Charania explained on the show Get Up with host Mike Greenberg. “There’s a strong possibility that LeBron and Bronny’s first official game together could be on the Lakers’ opening night. They’re scheduled to play at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 22, at the Crypto.com Arena, according to what I’ve been told. That’s the current plan and hope,” he added.

While it might seem like a given that the Lakers would seize this opportunity, it’s still uncertain how much playing time Bronny will get throughout the season. As a late second-round pick, his performances in the summer league and preseason suggest he still has a lot of development to do. With the team aiming to compete in LeBron’s final years, it’s a tough balance to strike between winning games and allowing Bronny the time he needs to develop. This is particularly true for the season opener against the Timberwolves, who are coming off a deep playoff run.

Nevertheless, it appears that the Lakers are eager to get Bronny on the court as soon as they can.
