Jaylen Brown, the Boston Celtics forward, is gearing up for his fourth NBA All-Star Game appearance on Sunday evening in San Francisco, facing a completely revamped game structure.

The NBA has introduced a fresh format for this year’s game. Abandoning the traditional conference versus conference setup, or even the recent model of team captains picking squads, this year will feature four teams of eight players. Three of these teams are selected by ‘Inside the NBA’ hosts Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Shaquille O’Neal, while the fourth team will consist of winners from the Rising Stars game, all competing in a knockout tournament.

When queried about his thoughts on the new format, Brown, aged 28, shared his candid confusion on Saturday:

“I have no idea what’s going on,” he admitted straightforwardly.

“I guess we’ll see,” he added, when pressed on whether the new format might enhance competition. “I don’t know, we’ll see.”

Brown will be playing in “Team Shaq” for Sunday’s game, joining forces with other basketball luminaries including LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and his Celtics colleague Jayson Tatum.

The tournament kicks off at 8:00 p.m. EST at the Chase Center, with the finale slated to start around 10:00 p.m.
