During his recent appearance on the podcast New Heights hosted by Travis and Jason Kelce, Jason Sudeikis dropped some exciting news. Not only did he confirm that a fourth season of his popular series Ted Lasso is underway, but he also recounted an amusing encounter where he managed to score a basket against NBA legend LeBron James—a feat that might raise some eyebrows about which achievement is more notable.

Discussing the LeBron incident, Travis prompted Sudeikis with a playful question: who excels more, Sudeikis at basketball or LeBron as an SNL host? Amidst the laughter that followed, Sudeikis revealed that during a Saturday Night Live sketch, he played one-on-one with LeBron and surprisingly scored against him.
“In the rehearsal, I managed to dribble past him and pulled off a reverse layup that he didn’t see coming. I actually made the shot,” Sudeikis explained, adding a humorous twist that the basket was only set at eight feet, much to the amusement of Travis and Jason.
“It was quite the moment because Don Roy King, our director back then, recently reminded me of it at the SNL 50th anniversary. He even said he’d back me up on the story if ever needed,” Sudeikis continued with a laugh.

It’s almost surprising how Sudeikis has kept this anecdote under wraps for so long. Scoring on one of the greatest basketball players ever would typically make anyone boast endlessly. Perhaps that’s just human nature.
Interestingly, Sudeikis had already mentioned this incident a few years ago on Late Night With Seth Meyers, but it seems it didn’t quite register with either Travis or Jason until now. Looks like it’s a story worth retelling every once in a while!
