During a rapid breakaway dunk, Grizzlies’ promising newcomer Jaylen Wells suffered a severe fall caused by Hornets’ rookie KJ Simpson, who dangerously undercut him. The incident led to Wells being carried off the court on a stretcher to the hospital, while Simpson faced a barrage of criticism for his dangerous actions.
Simpson was penalized with a flagrant 2 foul and was subsequently ejected from the match.

Simpson appeared visibly upset after Wells’ injury, indicating the incident was an unfortunate accident but nonetheless a reckless one. Wells acknowledged Simpson’s apology on his social media page.
