On February 10, during Purdue’s impressive 79–59 victory over Indiana, Boilermakers’ standout center Zach Edey achieved something remarkable: he sank a three-pointer.

Despite his illustrious college basketball career, which includes winning the AP Player of the Year award in 2023 and again in 2024, Edey had never made a three-pointer before. This event seemed like a rare nod to contemporary basketball from a player known for his traditional style.

Yet, on a Saturday night, Edey repeated the feat.

This time, it occurred during a game between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Orlando Magic. As a rookie, Edey added five points to help the Grizzlies secure a 69–43 lead by halftime. Left open after receiving an inbound pass from Ja Morant, Edey positioned himself in the corner and effortlessly made another three-pointer.

Despite being new to the NBA and leading the league with 10 personal fouls before Saturday, Edey’s ability to adapt and perform shows why the Grizzlies made a smart choice by selecting him ninth in the June draft.
