Memphis Grizzlies teammates, center Zach Edey and guard Cam Spencer, are both promising rookies currently embroiled in the chase for a spot in the Western Conference playoffs.

However, their camaraderie was tested on April 8, when Spencer’s team from Connecticut claimed a decisive victory over Edey’s Purdue team with a score of 75–60, securing their second consecutive national championship.

Seven months have passed since that game, but it appears there might still be some lingering tension. At a recent Grizzlies practice session, Spencer received his national championship ring, with Edey spotted in the background sporting a somewhat skeptical smile.

Responding to an Instagram post by Memphis that said, “National champion has a nice ring to it,” Edey expressed his feelings by replying with a thumbs-down emoji.

While Edey didn’t win a national championship during his college career, he did collect nearly every other accolade possible, including two AP Player of the Year awards, two Wooden Awards, and two Big Ten Player of the Year awards, among numerous other honors.

Despite these achievements, the victory in what might be considered the most significant game of their careers to date went to Spencer.
