While Dwight Howard is likely on his way to being enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame later this year, it seems he’s not quite ready to retire from playing basketball just yet.

This summer, Howard is set to join the Los Angeles Riot, a team in the Big3 league, as revealed in a report by NBA veteran reporter Chris Haynes on Wednesday morning. The team will be managed by former NBA guard Nick Young, who also previously played for the Los Angeles Lakers, similar to Howard.

The Big3, a 3-on-3 basketball league established eight years ago by entertainer Ice Cube, is introducing team-specific home markets for the first time this season. Cities like Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, and Washington will now have local teams representing them in the league.

Howard, aged 39, has an illustrious 18-year history in the NBA, playing with seven different teams, but is most notably recognized for his time with the Orlando Magic in the late 2000s and early 2010s. During this period, he secured three consecutive NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards.

Nick Young, also 39, Howard’s coach for the upcoming season, has a 12-year NBA career behind him, having played for six different teams and predominantly known for his role coming off the bench as a scorer.
