During the 2025 NBA playoffs, two prominent players, Milwaukee Bucks point guard Damian Lillard and Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, suffered severe Achilles tendon injuries. Lillard ruptured his left Achilles tendon in the fourth game of the first round, while Tatum experienced a right Achilles tendon rupture during the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Both athletes are now facing comparable recovery periods as they strive to come back from these critical injuries. It appears they have already started their rehabilitation journey together.
Lillard recently shared a collection of photos on his Instagram, including one where he and Tatum are seen embracing. The caption featured an emoji of crossed fingers, indicating hope and solidarity. Tatum later shared the same post on his social media, amplifying the supportive gesture.
The road to recovery will be long, but both players have the advantage of supporting each other through their rehabilitation.
Both Lillard and Tatum are expected to miss the entire 2025–26 NBA season due to their injuries, with Lillard planning a return for the 2026–27 season at age 36, and Tatum returning at age 29.
