In an unforgettable performance during the Boston Celtics’ 128–118 victory against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday, guards Derrick White and Payton Pritchard achieved remarkable career highs. Pritchard, coming off the bench, scored 43 points and made 10 three-pointers, while White contributed 41 points and hit nine three-pointers.

The duo’s combined score of 84 points set a new team record for the most points scored by a pair of Celtics, edging past the previous record of 83 set by Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum against the Cleveland Cavaliers the previous Friday. Additionally, Pritchard and White broke the NBA record for the most three-pointers by a duo in a single game.

Post-game, their teammates celebrated these historic achievements with enthusiasm. When White entered the locker room, he was greeted with high-fives, followed by a playful drenching with water and having shoes playfully tossed at him.

Reflecting on the event, Pritchard mentioned he too was soaked during his on-court postgame interview. He emphasized the team’s intention to also celebrate White’s exceptional performance, saying, “We wanted to make sure we got D-White, too. He had a career night as well,” Pritchard noted.

White expressed awe over their performance and the rich legacy of the Celtics franchise. “It’s unbelievable, just the talent that we have and the history of this franchise. I’m watching the documentary, can’t wait for the next episode. Hearing more about the history and the players that have been through this organization … To be a part of that is unbelievable. I’m truly thankful for that,” he remarked.
