He received surgery to repair his Achilles less than a day after the injury occurred. Initially, Tatum expressed a positive outlook about his recovery. However, recently, he has taken to social media platform X to express his frustrations with the challenges of the recovery process.
“Day 45… this is some b—s—,” Tatum expressed in a tweet last Friday night.
By Sunday, Tatum shared a video on his Snapchat showcasing him exercising in a gym, despite having a boot on his leg. He was observed doing crunches while holding a weight, indicating that returning to physical activity has not been straightforward for him, which might be the source of his earlier frustrations aired on social media.

The Celtics have not provided a definitive timeline for when Tatum might return to play, but typically, recovery from Achilles injuries can take anywhere from 9 to 12 months. Based on this, Tatum may not return to the court until at least the second half of the 2025-26 NBA season. Nonetheless, the video he posted is a promising sign of his progress towards recovery.
