Every time Butler steps onto the court in Minnesota, the crowd invariably greets him with boos. This was evident during Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals on Tuesday night, marking his first game in Minnesota since 2021. Throughout the game at the Target Center, the audience’s disapproval was audible whenever he played.
Post-game, the Golden State Warriors’ forward commented on the booing following their 99-88 victory. Butler acknowledged that while the booing doesn’t affect him, inappropriate heckling would provoke a different response.
“Booing doesn’t really bother me,” Butler stated. “However, people need to be careful about what they say. I’m okay with boos, but derogatory remarks, which I can hear, are a different story…”
During the media session, Butler’s teammate Buddy Hield chimed in as Butler mentioned the Timberwolves fans’ heckling.
“What did they say?” inquired Hield.
“Do you really want me to repeat it?” Butler responded, “No, I won’t repeat it. It’s not nice. It’s unnecessary. I understand the boos, let’s just leave it at that.”

“Thanks, little bro,” said Butler, barely holding back laughter.
It appears that any Timberwolves fans daring to confront Butler will also have to contend with Hield.
The Warriors’ duo played impressively in Game 1, especially after their teammate Steph Curry had to exit early due to a hamstring strain. Butler delivered a double-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists, while Hield led the team with 24 points, adding eight rebounds and three assists.
Butler and Hield, along with the rest of the Warriors, will need to continue their strong performance in Game 2, as Curry is expected to be out for about a week. The hostile reception in Minnesota might just fuel Butler’s determination.
