Lakers Announcer Goes Wild After Shocking Ejection of Luka Doncic

During a closely contested Tuesday night game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers faced a significant setback following Doncic’s ejection. Doncic had previously been given a technical foul earlier in the game and received a second one, which seems to have been a result of his remarks aimed at a Thunder fan—who had been featured in a local newspaper—rather than at any game official.

The Lakers’ radio commentators, John Ireland and Mychal Thompson, were among the first to publicly discuss the incident. They expressed strong disapproval of the decision.

“It’s an absolutely terrible decision by J.T. Orr,” declared Ireland. “It’s unacceptable to eject a star player for interacting with a spectator. This action is utterly indefensible.”

Certainly gives you pause!

“This is among the poorest officiating I’ve witnessed in my 25 years of broadcasting,” Ireland continued. “I absolutely detest this decision, and I would feel the same if it were made against Shai [Gilgeous-Alexander].”

Thompson, maintaining composure, twice mentioned that Orr believed Doncic’s remarks were directed at him, demonstrating his usual calm demeanor.
