Hubie Brown is poised to commentate his last NBA game this coming February, as per a recent announcement from ESPN. His final commentary will take him full circle back to Milwaukee, the city where his coaching journey began.

Brown’s career in professional basketball coaching launched in 1972 when he served as an assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks. Several decades later, after a 35-year tenure as a national television and radio analyst, Brown will deliver his final broadcast during the Feb. 9, 2025 game between the Bucks and the Philadelphia 76ers. With the longest career as an ESPN NBA game analyst, Brown has also lent his expertise to TNT and TBS broadcasts before resuming his coaching career with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2002.

At the age of 91, Brown has been honored twice with the NBA Coach of the Year award—first in 1978 while with the Atlanta Hawks, and later in 2004 during his tenure with the Grizzlies.

During this significant broadcast, Brown will be accompanied by fellow Hall of Fame commentator Mike Breen. The duo previously collaborated during the 2006 NBA Finals.

ESPN has disclosed that both the network and the NBA are planning a special celebration to honor Brown’s impactful career during his last broadcast. Further details about the event will be revealed soon.

The game is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. ET on Super Bowl Sunday, making for an engaging sports-filled day.
