On a recent Sunday afternoon, the New Orleans Pelicans faced a severe defeat at the hands of the New York Knicks, losing 118-85. The game started poorly for New Orleans, setting a new low for the franchise by scoring just 10 points in the first quarter and only 28 by the half. With key players Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson sidelined due to injuries, the Pelicans’ offense struggled throughout the game.
Postgame, New Orleans Pelicans coach Willie Green expressed his frustration, reflecting a sentiment that had been building during the team’s eight-game losing streak.
“We need to regain our confidence,” Green stated to the press. “We must approach each game ready to compete at the highest level and give ourselves a real chance to win. It all starts with our group having more confidence in what they’re doing.”

During this downward spiral, the Pelicans have experienced defeats by margins of 41, 33, 28, and 26 points, and currently hold the poorest record in the Western Conference. The timing of the return of their star players remains uncertain.
Zion Williamson is out for an indefinite period due to a hamstring injury, with no set date for his comeback. The two-time all-star has participated in just six games this season, hitting a career-low 45% from the field. Last year, Williamson played in a personal-best 70 games before a hamstring injury in the Play-In Tournament sidelined him for the playoffs.
Ingram has missed four consecutive games due to a calf injury, initially listed as day-to-day. He has been active in pregame workouts over the last two games, yet there’s still no clear timeline for his return. He is the leading scorer for the team this season, and without him, the Pelicans have not won a single game out of five attempts.
The Pelicans are under pressure to recover quickly as they face the Atlanta Hawks in a back-to-back game on Monday night.
