Elite five-star prospect Bruce Branch III just made a major move. The No. 1 ranked player in the 2027 class announced he’s reclassifying to 2026 on November 22, 2025. This decision makes him eligible for the 2027 NBA Draft. At just 17 years old, Branch is poised to impact college basketball immediately.

🔥 Quick Facts:

  • Bruce Branch III reclassifies from 2027 to 2026 on Nov. 22, 2025
  • Stands 6-foot-7 with a 7-foot-2 wingspan and elite athleticism
  • Attends Prolific Prep in Florida, graduates spring 2026
  • Eligible for 2027 NBA Draft, projects as potential top-10 pick
  • Major interest from Kentucky, Kansas, Louisville, USC, Arizona, BYU

What Triggered This Decision?

Branch told ESPN’s Paul Biancardi he’s been playing against older competition his entire life. “I believe in my ability,” the Gilbert, Arizona native said. “I am confident that I can do this. I have been playing up my whole life. I am not going to let anyone outwork me.”

His confidence isn’t unfounded. The small forward averaged 15.9 points and 5.2 rebounds per game last summer. He shot 39 percent from three-point range with the Compton Magic on the Adidas 3SSB circuit. Prolific Prep coach Ryan Bernardi praised his mental toughness. “His work ethic will prepare him for this reclassification,” Bernardi said. “He is emotionally stable and does not get too high or too low.”

Branch was born on October 24, 2008, making him just barely eligible for the move. He turned 17 last month. The reclassification means he’ll graduate in the spring and enroll in college this coming fall.

The 2026 Class Gets Stronger

Branch’s reclassification dramatically shifts the college basketball landscape. The 2026 class was already considered historic and deep. Now it’s adding one of the most talented wings in recent memory.

He hasn’t made any official visits yet. But power programs are circling. Kentucky, Kansas, Louisville, USC, BYU, Arizona, Houston, and Miami are all pursuing him. Branch expects to make a springtime decision, but he’s focused on winning first. “I want to focus on our team and take things one step at a time,” he said. “I want to win it all at Chipotle Nationals.”

Among the 2026 class, Branch is already likely vying for the top spot. Tyran Stokes has held the No. 1 ranking for the past couple of years. But Branch’s addition changes everything.

Physical Tools Are Legitimate

What makes Branch special? His combination of size, shooting, and athleticism is rare. Standing 6-foot-7 with a 7-foot-2 wingspan, he has NBA-level speed and explosiveness. His three-point stroke is silky smooth with excellent release mechanics. He shoots effectively on the move and has a high midrange release point too.

Height (Stood) 6-foot-7
Weight 185-195 lbs
Wingspan 7-foot-2

His length allows him to shoot over defenders. The smooth release shows good preparation and footwork. Scouts consistently praise his outside shooting mechanics as being one of the best in this class.

What’s Next for This Prospect?

Branch said the mental side of this decision is just as hard as the physical side. College coaches will throw him challenges immediately. He’ll face established NBA prospects on night one. The pressure will be immense.

But Branch seems ready. His track record of playing against older competition gives him confidence. He’s been the smallest kid in many gyms and came back stronger. That resilience matters at the college level.

Watch for his official visit tour starting soon. Elite programs will host him heavily. The 2027 NBA Draft should be interesting with Branch in it. Combined with the already-stacked 2026 class, the next generation of NBA talent looks historic. Which college program will land this elite wing prospect and help him reach the next level?
