The newest hero Vendetta faces her biggest balance hit yet in this midseason update. Blizzard identified her lethality as too high, cutting damage across multiple abilities.
Projected Edge damage dropped from 80 to 70, while Whirlwind Dash suffered the same 10-point reduction. Her Raging Storm perk was nerfed from 40 to 35 damage per spin. Additionally, Soaring Slice now starts on cooldown when respawning, forcing more strategic cooldown management.

Doomfist received a critical change limiting Empowered Punch duration to 20 seconds, removing situations where it could be held indefinitely. His Power Matrix perk projectile absorption area was also scaled down for clarity.
D.Va’s Extended Boosters damage bonus dropped from 100 percent to 40 percent, while Roadhog got a small Whole Hog damage increase from 6 to 7 per pellet. Support heroes saw mixed changes, with Zenyatta’s Discord Orb amplification jumping from 25 to 30 percent and Lucio’s Soundwave cooldown increased from 4 to 5 seconds.

“Showdown returns with a twist. From January 13-26, Heroes shuffle mid-match and wild modifiers keep the chaos coming. Complete challenges to earn cosmetics, lootboxes and Battle Pass XP.”

Stadium and General Game Updates
Powerful spawn defense turrets were added to all Payload Race, Control, and Clash maps to combat spawn camping, a persistent issue since Stadium’s release. These turrets activate with a wind-up before firing, allowing skilled positioning to avoid them.
The patch also included the Assault mode return for a limited Quick Play Hacked weekend and Junkrat’s Loot Hunt running January 22-25. Bug fixes addressed D.Va’s Precision Fusion perk, Cassidy’s wall pings, and Vendetta’s Palatine Fang storage exploit.
What Should Players Focus On Now?
Competitive players should adjust to reduced Vendetta pressure and test new Genji builds with 30 ammo. Casual players will find Showdown Shuffle offers wild, unpredictable gameplay from January 13-26. The Assault weekend runs through January 11, bringing nostalgia with modern 5v5 pacing for players who miss classic 6v6 maps.
