Steve McBee Sr., the patriarch of Bravo’s McBee Dynasty, reveals his final meal plans before reporting to Federal Prison Camp Yankton in South Dakota on December 1, 2025. The reality TV star will serve a 24-month sentence after pleading guilty to federal crop insurance fraud involving over $2.6 million in unauthorized benefits.

  • McBee submitted fraudulent documents underreporting his 2018 corn crop by 674,812 bushels to Rain and Hail insurance
  • He received $2,605,943 in federal crop insurance benefits to which he was not entitled, plus subsidies

The Final Meal: Steak and Potatoes Before Prison

In an exclusive interview with People magazine, McBee revealed his culinary plans for his last evening of freedom on Sunday, November 30, 2025. As a cattle rancher through his company McBee Farm & Cattle, his meal choice reflects his profession and personal preferences. “I love steak,” the 52-year-old told People. “Obviously, I’m a cattle guy, so that’s my favorite meal: steak and potatoes. And I can eat potatoes any way — I like them baked, mashed, fried.”

McBee emphasized that this final meal will likely be significantly different from the cuisine he’ll experience during his incarceration. He plans to make it a family occasion, inviting relatives to his lodge in Gallatin, Missouri for what he acknowledges will be his last substantial home-cooked meal for the foreseeable future.

Thanksgiving Celebration One Last Time at the Ranch

Event Details
Thanksgiving Date Thursday, November 27, 2025
Location McBee’s lodge in Gallatin, Missouri
Main Dishes Smoked prime rib on Traeger grill and turkey
Last Evening Before Prison Sunday dinner on November 30 featuring steak and potatoes

For this Thanksgiving celebration, McBee told People he’s taking charge of cooking. “I like to cook,” he said. “I always cook very large meals for everybody, so everybody’s coming to my house, even my brothers and sister and extended family.” He plans to prepare both a smoked prime rib using his Traeger grill and a traditional turkey for his gathering of extended family members.

McBee will then drive with his family to Yankton, South Dakota to self-surrender to the federal facility. He has until 2 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2025 to report. This represents a bittersweet final weekend at his ranch before beginning his sentence.

Finding Positivity Behind Bars at Yankton

Despite the serious circumstances, McBee is attempting to maintain an optimistic outlook about his prison sentence. He acknowledged that friends and family expect him to leave prison “all big and buff,” which he recognizes creates considerable pressure. “I’m afraid if I come out, and I just look like me, they’re going to be like, ‘Really?” he joked to People. “You had months to work out. That’s a lot of pressure!”

To prepare himself mentally, McBee researched Federal Prison Camp Yankton extensively. He learned that the facility is housed on an old college campus and features a “really good gym” with better-than-average prison food compared to other federal facilities. “I’m trying to find all the positives,” he said, determined to make the best of his situation.

“I don’t want anybody to be sad. I want everyone to be upbeat. Everything’s going to be good. I’ve skipped a lot of family vacations because of work — and, looking back, I shouldn’t have — but I’ve never really taken any kind of extended vacation. So, I guess I’m finally getting a sabbatical, right?”

What Happens to His Life While He’s Away?

McBee expressed deep concern about leaving his loved ones during this challenging time. His son Cole McBee recently got engaged to Kacie Adkinson in November, and the couple shares a 10-month-old daughter named Blair. McBee acknowledged feeling “so guilty” about potentially missing his granddaughter’s first birthday on December 13, 2025.

The family has tentatively scheduled Cole’s wedding for fall 2025, hoping McBee might receive early release or a pardon by then. However, if not, the ceremony will need to be rescheduled to spring 2026 to accommodate his presence. For his pug Gunner, who has been his constant companion since being six weeks old, McBee arranged for his mother to care for the dog at his estate.

McBee’s entire business operation, McBee Farm & Cattle, will continue during his incarceration. He expressed confidence in his management team: “I literally have the best team of people I’ve ever had around me, and they are just genuinely the highest character people I’ve ever had work for me.” The enterprise that once lost 75 employees after his guilty plea will remain operational under trusted leadership.

How Is the McBee Dynasty Family Handling the Reality of Tomorrow?

The third season of The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys on Bravo will document this challenging chapter in the family’s history. McBee’s four sons — Steven Jr., Jesse, Cole, and Brayden — have been spending as much quality time as possible with their father before his December 1 report date. The family released a statement emphasizing that they’re “leaning on one another for support” during this difficult period.

Interestingly, McBee has received unexpected support from fellow reality star Todd Chrisley, who was previously incarcerated for bank fraud and conspiracy before receiving a presidential pardon. Chrisley has been texting McBee prison tips regularly. “I cannot say enough good things about Todd,” McBee told People. “After I did a podcast with Todd last Thursday, we went and had lunch. We walked into the restaurant, and there was a beautiful young lady as a hostess, and she looked at Todd and just started crying. She was like, ‘Mr. Chrisley, we love you. I just got out of prison October 9, and the changes that you have made for my sisters that are still in there of getting treated like a human — you’re changing everybody’s life.'”
