Morey is a guy who likes taking risks when the price is low and the reward could be high. I have very little doubt Waiters won't develop into a player that Morey can flip for at least a 1st round pick. It's a business man, so try to look at it like a businessman.

Morey doesn't want Waiters. he doesn't fall under the definition of impact player and the way Varajao has been looking this year.......I don't think Asik will end up in Cleveland without a 3 team trade
you can only warn a man that the bridge is out.....if he keeps driving he's on his own

We are looking to win now and flipping waiters is not a win now situation. That's why keeping asik is the best bet for winning now. Also enough with the LA or Love trade ideas. Its impossible to have 3 superstars under the new CBA at max contracts, its far better to have a Big 2 and elite supporting cast.

Like I said, he's sending out an asking price of a fortune to send a message to teams to stop trying to trade for him because in reality the rockets want to keep him. Why do you think the team including howard and parsons basically had an intervention with him about staying. Also there is no one we could trade asik for that would make us a better team right now.

The 2 pick thing has gotta be posturing at this point, Asik is really good but if your a rebuilding team your not giving up higher end draft picks (especially this year's) for Asik while on the other end if your Morey why would you take the 27th pick and send Asik to OKC so they can kill you in the playoff of example.
I think this is essentially Morey's way of saying "Hey, we're not actually trading this guy unless you knock us unconcious with a great deal" while also at least having an explanation to Asik like "hey man, we tried to trade you but couldn't find anything that make sense."
There is Some serious issues with trading Asik, you are not going to trade him to a OKC or other teams that have a pretty serious plausibility of burning you in the playoff, you just won't. So that already takes most of the teams that actually need Asik badly (like I said, OKC) off the table, meanwhile, Asik is very good but he's not a fundamental piece that can turn a franchise around, so teams that want him are either contenders or at least bubble teams. But on the otherhand because we are also in win now mode, trading Asik for long term asset make less sense unless said asset is extremely attractive. (like say, a high pick in this year's lotto) which those teams are unlikely to have. So we're looking for shorter term help , unforunately, those teams that want Asik also want to contend now, so why are they sending guys that help them now ??
As i've said before, the only team in the west that we have a chance of trading Asik to and may actually like to trade for him is Sacramento, there is zero other team in the west that we would be willing to trade to and is willing to pay for (and have things we actually want.)
So most of the teams are in the east, but then there's so few teams actually in serious competition this year , almost everyone's tanking, that it makes trading for Asik a complicated situation.
If your Cleveland, would you really like Asik? your team is *29th* in offensive efficency, would adding Stone hands Asik help that at all? and if your scoring like that would defense matter much? your much better of praying Bynum stays healthy and trying to improve at the wing spots. yes, Dion Waiter / Tristan Thompson sucks, almost anyone is an improvement at this point.
Atlanta might want Asik, but with Jones playing the way he is, why would we really want to do a Millsap for Asik trade? Millsap helps certainly, but with Jones going the way he is it is a legit question of how much better you are if you are taking minutes away from Jones with Millsap and replacing Asik's minutes with Smith.
It's a complex situation, add in that at this stage, we do have to remember that you can not play the wheel of fortune game as much when your actually going for a title, most team that have enduring success keep their core together, if someone comes and want to trade us the #5 pick in this draft for Parsons for example, I'm fairly sure Morey will say no, despite the fact that from a true value POV the former might be better.
I don't know, the conclusion I seem to see with these current news is that there is no news, Morey's just posturing and buying time.

This is exactly as I see it. DM letting other teams know he can be had but at a high price, also keeping Asik's camp happy by honoring his request. Morey having his cake and eating it too. As the season wears on, and we have more blow-out wins and Dwight has his games with foul or concentration trouble, and Asik's MPG improves from his 18.5 per game average now, (even after logging 7 and 4 minutes to BOS and PHI) to over 20 minutes then I bet his camp quiets down some, and Morey's offer becomes forgotten.

Jason Friedman was on David Locke's podcast early today, and he shared an interesting story that gives a lot of insight into this.
He said that a couple season ago, right after the trading deadline, Sam Hinkie told him that they had no less than *100* theoretical trade drawn out and asked around the night before.
(now that was probably the point where everyone on the team was tradable, but this goes to show that they probably have a very deep plan and counter plan on Asik trade with a long list of plausible candidate and scenarios to work with.)
(and also seem to acknowledged ou suspicioun that yes, the cancelling of Rockets Cast is really David Stern's fault. one more cap to your feather commissioner. )
