Teams already know he's a top PG, even a top player. While the injury last season might raise some questions, I doubt that many front offices will be seriously put off from submitting a bid, because whatever their offers are will still likely be much less than Paul is worth. From a trade value perspective, I think Paul can only be worth *less* if, as the season opens, he demonstrates that the injury has seriously affected his game. His stats won't increase his value that much more, and likely having to pick up Okafor and/or Posey also drags down the total trade value in dealing for Paul.

It's damage control for the front office to assert leverage against other teams, and to quiet the home crowd, sure, but trade value? Unless New Orleans is getting James or Wade back in exchange, they're not getting value.

I got a chance to look at rockets stats from this past year on yahoo and a couple things jumps out. They're tied for 3rd on most 2point FGAttempt and 4th in 3point FGAttempt. It appears (from WP perspective anyway) the strategy of collecting unselfish players who excel at getting possession (and not use it up for FGA) has pushed them to the top of the league (or is it just because they have an uptempo offense?). Their FG% was only 16th which then put their offense only 8th in pts/game.

It appears now that they've optimized the ability to collect possessions, they need some sort of efficient way to convert this to points. Probably they reason for the big push for an efficient scorer, a la Martin & Bosh. Though it looked like Landry was pretty decent. A good point guard could make a big difference too.

Is Martin that entrenched at SG and Morey doesn't want to bring in Rudy knowing he'll be just as unhappy w/limited minutes?

Does Morey have fairly solid expectations of a major trade that will need as many assets as possible?

Or,most ominous,are the Rockets starting to contemplate the post-Yao era being upon them sooner than expected and want as many draft picks as possible to rebuild w/?

on another note, that video of Kevin Durant is sweet! he is already amazing but he also has a ton of room to grow.
