I'm a little confused why the NY Picks would be in play for a Melo to Knicks scenario. If Anthony is traded to the Knicks, don't the value of the picks drop considerably? I could understand us using them in a separate trade, betting against the likelihood of NY being able to pull off anything, but I would think their value is instantly diminished when you associate them with improving New York's roster. Granted, I would jump on the bandwagon any day if it meant acquiring Randolph. It would be a very pleasant turn of events to go from having a very small roster to having a plethora of big men.

totally different players. hill's upside is as a garbageman and weakside shotblocker. randolph brings alot more to the table. i'm also not convinced that they intend to hold onto jordan hill – morey has never spoken too glowingly about him.

(I think they genuinely do love patterson though.)

I'm a little confused about why Randolph…aren't we already kinda stocked with young PFs with possible upside? If Hill is already going to be struggling to get time, I don't get it.

Letting go of Landry last year was really difficult but had to be done to fill a position of need and acquire a better basketball talent.

Trading Ariza to N.O. and acquiring Lee in the process showed that the brass is committed to a certain team identity and bringing in players that fit with that concept.

If the player that we are targeting is a top 10 player, ala Anthony, then Morey is more inclined to downplay the importance of contract/attitude/other issues.

If the player is not a top 10 player, ala Randolph, these other issues factor just as heavily as talent itself.

Top 3 most likely to get traded?

1) J. Hill - With Hayes as the backup 4 and Miller as the backup 5, Hill really has his work cut out for him in terms of earning playing time. He is the stepchild of our roster along with Jeffries. Pat might move in front of him in the rotation. We should move him now because as a relative 'unknown' his trade value still relies on his length/athleticism and upside. Delay much further and his trade value will diminish. Package him with the NY picks for greater return.

2) Brooks - His offensive ability is in the upper echelon of PG, but his defense will always be limited because of his physical attributes. Brass are quite satisfied with the Brooks/Lowry combo and his oncourt chemistry with Martin. Like Landry, he is a sell high candidate and would be a good fit for teams that have ball-dominant big guards that can't shoot the 3 well (ala Evans). I would try to trade him to Minn for the rights to Rubio.

3) Battier- but only if he gets waived and *wink wink* comes back to the team later in the season. My only beef with Battier is that he doesn't really fit with the Adelman style of play (not his fault because he was brought in as the perfect JVG player). He doesn't have the ability to create plays for himself or others and he does not fit well with the run/gun style of the younger kids in the 2nd unit. A team like the Bulls would/should go after him hard as Battier would help their youth with his experience and be a great fit with that roster.
