Joe Goldberg bids farewell to Netflix subscribers. The series You, starring Penn Badgley as a psychopathic bookstore owner with unhealthy obsessions toward women he encounters, wraps up with its fifth season. Released on April 24, 2025, on the streaming platform, the final episodes see Joe return to New York with Kate to pursue his “perfect life”… until it is upended by the ghosts of his past and his dark inclinations.
In a discussion with Tudum, showrunner Michael Foley promised a “spectacular ending” and explained why the series is concluding: “We always intended to end the series after five seasons, and in a way, it’s perfect that we can do so by bringing Joe back to where it all started in New York. We liked the idea of him returning to his roots.” It’s now up to the fans to decide if they find this conclusion satisfying.
