While it’s hard to envision Edwards actually switching to football, history shows some crossover between the sports at amateur levels. Several NFL legends, such as Tony Gonzalez and Antonio Gates, played college basketball before transitioning to successful football careers. Yet no professional athlete has switched from basketball to football at a professional level.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, the reverse transition has occurred. Devin Funchess, formerly a standout receiver at Michigan, was picked by the Carolina Panthers in the 2015 NFL Draft but later pursued a professional basketball career.
