Chris Paul, who recently rejoined the Los Angeles Clippers on a one-year contract at 40 years old, expressed to ESPN’s Malika Andrews that he remains uncertain about his plans after the 2025-26 NBA season.<\/p>\n

“I don’t know,” Paul said to Andrews when asked if the 2025-26 season would be his last. “I think at some point during the season… you just know. It becomes clear to you. But this season, I’m really going to enjoy it. I never take it for granted. I’ve been eager to spend more time with my family for a long time. Having this chance now wasn’t guaranteed; it’s not something that happens often, so I’m approaching it with a lot of gratitude.”<\/p>\n

Paul, initially selected fourth overall in the 2005 NBA draft, is about to start his 21st season and his second tenure with the Clippers. He ranks among the oldest in the league, just behind LeBron James and P.J. Tucker.<\/p>\n

“It’s going to be cool,” Paul remarked about playing at 40 years old during his reintroduction press conference with the Clippers on Monday. “I feel a deep sense of gratitude to still be able to play at this age. I’ve always believed in just adding days. You have to show up, day in and day out. That’s what I’m bringing to this team.”<\/p>\n

According to ESPN\u2019s Brian Windhorst, while Paul\u2019s return might not guarantee him extensive playtime, he understands his role as he makes his way back to Los Angeles. Despite starting every game for the Spurs last season, his performance has seen a decline in recent years, and Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank has described him as a “reserve point guard” during the announcement of his signing.<\/p>\n

By returning to the Clippers, where he previously spent six successful seasons, Paul prioritizes being close to his family in Los Angeles as he contemplates his future beyond the 2025-26 season.<\/p>\n

“To be honest, I was determined to come back and play here by any means necessary,” Paul stated. “It didn’t matter to me what the team was like. I just wanted to be home, here with the Clippers. I’m really excited about the moves the team has made this offseason.”<\/p>\n
