On a recent Wednesday, Miami-Dade County paid tribute to six distinguished athletes from South Florida for their achievements in the Olympics. The honorees included artistic swimmer Daniella Ramirez, sprinter Twanisha Terry, water polo goalkeeper Ashleigh Johnson, sailor Sarah Newberry Moore, and judoka Angelica Delgado. Among these celebrated figures, the most notable was Bam Adebayo, the center for the Miami Heat.<\/p>\n
Another significant presence at the event was A’ja Wilson, the two-time WNBA MVP. Despite her lack of direct ties to the event\u2014hailing from South Carolina and playing for Las Vegas\u2014Wilson made a point to attend the ceremony.<\/p>\n
Wilson’s attendance was particularly noteworthy considering her performance the previous night, where she scored 30 points and secured 14 rebounds for her team. With a game scheduled in Connecticut just two days later, it was clear that Wilson went out of her way to be part of the Miami ceremony.<\/p>\n
