“I made an effort to join them, but they opted for Dwight instead,” Noah humorously remarked. “You can\u2019t argue with that choice!”<\/p>\n

Despite not making the team, Noah expressed no regrets about how things turned out. He acknowledged that had he been part of the Lakers and they won, it would have been his first NBA championship.<\/p>\n

“I don\u2019t think so,” he stated. “Everything happens for a reason. They were an excellent team, and LeBron was outstanding as a leader, particularly in the bubble environment. It was tough being away from family, and he handled it very well.”<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In hindsight, choosing Howard proved to be a wise decision for the Lakers. He played a pivotal role during their championship run, particularly in the playoffs.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Howard was especially crucial in the Western Conference Finals, where he faced off against Denver Nuggets’ star Nikola Jokic. Howard’s defensive prowess significantly hindered Jokic’s performance, helping the Lakers to a victorious five-game series.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This stint helped Howard redeem his image among Lakers fans after a controversial departure from the team following the 2012-13 season.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Howard returned to the Lakers for his third time after the 2020-21 season. However, the season did not meet expectations as the Lakers missed the playoffs despite the addition of Russell Westbrook.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, Howard was a better fit for the Lakers, but Noah\u2019s interest in joining the team adds an intriguing layer to the narrative, especially given his past rivalry with LeBron James during his time with the Bulls and James’s tenure with the Miami Heat.<\/p>\n
