The Phoenix Suns appear to be close to executing a significant trade.<\/p>\n

According to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated<\/em>, the Suns are actively pursuing Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat. The team hopes to create a powerful lineup featuring Butler, Devin Booker, and Kevin Durant. However, should their efforts to acquire Butler fall through, the Suns might consider offers for Durant.<\/p>\n

Suns have listed Kevin Durant as doubtful for tomorrow night’s game in OKC. As @SInow<\/a> reported yesterday, there\u2019s an increasing belief among rival execs that if Phoenix can\u2019t land Jimmy Butler, the Suns will engage on a Durant deal. Phoenix working two fronts right now.<\/p>\n

In a twist to the ongoing trade saga, the Golden State Warriors have shown interest in bringing Durant back to their team.<\/p>\n

Currently, the Suns hold a 25\u201324 record and are positioned 10th in the Western Conference. The combination of Durant, Booker, and Bradley Beal has not produced the desired results, prompting the franchise to consider major changes. Beal is unlikely to be moved as he has no intention of waiving his no-trade clause, which complicates the Suns’ ability to maneuver given the substantial contracts involved.<\/p>\n

Durant, who is in his third year of a four-year, $194 million contract, is set to earn $54.7 million next season before he becomes a free agent in 2026. At 36, Durant is averaging 26.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.2 assists over 36.2 minutes per game.<\/p>\n

The Suns acquired Durant at the trade deadline in 2023 alongside T.J. Warren in exchange for Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, four unprotected first-round picks, and a 2028 first-round pick swap with the Brooklyn Nets. This move was a clear signal of the Suns’ championship ambitions, which have yet to be realized.<\/p>\n

With limited options to shake up their roster, the Suns may have to consider trading Durant if they want to redirect the course of their franchise.<\/p>\n
