The Memphis Grizzlies secured a dominant victory from start to finish against the New Orleans Pelicans with a score of 132-124 last Friday evening. Ja Morant, the celebrated player of Memphis, was on track for an outstanding performance until he suffered a shoulder injury in the third quarter. He remained on the court in evident pain before being assisted off and taken to the locker room.<\/p>\n

In Morant’s absence, New Orleans seized the opportunity to close the gap, reducing Memphis’s 22-point lead down to just eight points towards the end of the third quarter. However, the Grizzlies regained their composure and launched into a decisive 16-2 run from the end of the third quarter into the early minutes of the fourth. Morant returned to the bench but did not participate further in the game.<\/p>\n

Postgame, Memphis coach Taylor Jenkins spoke about the injury during a media briefing, noting the team’s tenth road win of the season.<\/p>\n

“No update yet. He definitely took a hard hit to the shoulder, but we will have more information after further evaluation in the next few days,” Jenkins told reporters after the game.<\/p>\n

Despite Morant missing 12 games this season due to injuries, the Grizzlies still hold the third-best record in the Western Conference. Their scoring has been notably high this year, highlighted by setting a new team record for points in a game with 155 against the Toronto Raptors the previous night.<\/p>\n

Currently leading the league in scoring this season after being at the bottom last year, the Grizzlies’ turnaround is largely due to improved health. With key players like Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Desmond Bane mostly healthy, Memphis has transformed into a scoring powerhouse.<\/p>\n

The Grizzlies are set to continue their season with a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Oklahoma City this coming Sunday.<\/p>\n
